Thank you for considering Carlyn Suriano as your local counselor. On this page, I will try to answer to some of the most frequently asked questions my clients ask. If you cannot find yours, feel free to reach me at (213) 215-6374 and ask me in person. I will be happy to provide you with a consultation in my office in Burbank, CA and help you deal with your situation.
Q: Is individual therapy right for me?
A: Participating in therapy can result in a number of benefits, including a better understanding of your situation, goals, and values and improve interpersonal relationships, and the resolution of specific concerns that have led you to seek assistance.
Q: Do I really need to visit a psychotherapist?
A: Even though people strive to handle their problems themselves, sometimes the assistance of a local counselor will be very beneficial. The therapeutic process is about getting more out of life, your relationships with others, and the way you express yourself by developing tools that help you to navigate life’s difficulties. Therapy can be a resource you can use to develop new skills and conquer the challenges life has for you.
Q: What is therapy like?
A: Nobody experiences this service in the same way, and no therapy session can be entirely predictable. Depending on your problem, I will tailor my approach to best suit your interests and needs. I draw a number of treatment approaches and always strive to make your experience as pleasant as possible.
Q: How do I know if individual therapy is going to work for me?
A: Success depends on a good match between you and your local counselor. In the first few sessions, one of our main tasks will be to explore where we are a good match for each other. If it works, great! If not, I will be glad to refer you to someone who I feel would be better suited to help you.
Q: How long is a session with a psychotherapist?
A: In general, my sessions in Burbank, CA are about 50-60 minutes long once per week. However, this is adjustable depending on your specific needs, schedule, and the complexities of the problems we are tackling together.
Q: How much it will cost me?
A: I prefer to answer this questions when I meet you in person. Depending on the number of sessions, type of therapy and other specifics, I will be able to give you an accurate quote for your entire treatment. Please call me now for more details about how I make the estimates.
Q: How can we start working together?
A: Contact Carlyn Suriano by filling out the contact form on one of my other pages or just call me. We will arrange an initial meeting to talk about what you are trying to achieve, how I can help you do that, and make a plan about how or if we are going to work together.
Q: What if I need assistance from a local counselor right now?
A: If it is a life-threatening emergency or you feel you are experiencing a crisis, please go to your local hospital or call 911. While I try to be as responsive as possible, sometimes the suicide crisis line and the health care providers are the people who can help you through the tough times.
